On Sunday evening a hail storm struck the northern part of Poland.
After two days of intense heat suddenly hail the size of ping-pong balls dropped from the sky. Within minutes the streets turned into rivers, and lightning caused several fires, ITAR-TASS reports. Gusting winds toppled dozens of trees and rescuers received about 100 calls related to trees falling on houses and cars.
Many kilometers of traffic jams formed on blocked roads and highways due to raging floods. It is not the first time, in recent months, that Eastern Europe has been hit by storms with hurricane force winds and torrential rains which have caused widespread destruction and casualties.
