Tropical Storm Danny Will Brush Past Bahamas
Miami, FL (AHN) - Tropical Storm Danny, with sustained wind speeds of 45 mph (75 km/hr), will skirt to the east of the Bahamas, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, Florida.
Issuing its first public advisory for the storm, the NHC reports Danny will likely head north, possibly passing to the east of the Virginia coastline on Saturday morning. Nonetheless, the Bahamas and the U.S. east coast “should monitor the progress of Danny,” according to an NHC bulletin.
As of 11:00 am ET, the eye of the storm is still about 445 miles (715 km) east of Nassau, Bahamas. Danny is headed west at a moderate speed, but meteorologists say the storm will likely turn and head north over the next 48 hours.
Rain bands extending from the storm could dump as much as four inches of rain on the northwestern Bahamian islands.
