Tropical cyclone Laurence is expected to cause significant flooding in coastal areas.
Tropical cyclone Laurence is expected to cause significant flooding in coastal areas today, as it continues on its southerly track of Western Australia's coast, south of Broome.
The Bureau of Meteorology's warned there's a risk of a dangerous storm tide in coastal areas east of Pardoo to Sandfire, including Wallal, with winds expected to exceed 165 kilometres an hour.
Tides are likely to rise significantly above the normal high tide mark, with damaging waves expected.
The category three cyclone may be upgraded to category four in the early hours of this morning, with very destructive winds set to occur at its centre.
